Video Captures Rescue Dog’s Reaction to Owner & Cat Cuddling

Jealousy might be an ugly emotion, but this pooch was not willing to risk sharing his dad’s love with another, at least not just yet. Similarly, this video captured a rescue dog named Cactus’ envy reaction and hints of betrayal and protectiveness after catching his owner cuddling with a cat.

In the clip, Cactus walked into the room to find his human, Mike Brown, sitting on the couch with the feline on his lap, and immediately got territorial. What he did next was so funny and adorable that it will melt your heart right away like an ice cream stick in the summer heat.

Rescue dog gets protective the moment he sees owner cuddling with cat

It is only natural that Cactus becomes protective of his dog dad after he rescued him from a certain unfortunate fate in the deserts of California. The duo has since started a life together in Miami that encompasses sharing the same space, interests, and even friends. However, every once in a while, the rescue dog does get defensive about Mike, especially in this video after catching his owner cuddling Miso the cat. The idea of his owner with the feline didn’t sit well with him, as he almost immediately moved to claim his territory in the household.

The post documented Cactus’ reaction with a text explaining from the dog dad’s point of view, “Rescue puppy reacts to finding me cuddling with cat.” At first, the video showed Mike sitting on the couch with Miso on his lap when the dog entered the room and appeared confused about what was happening. “What’s going on here?” read the text in the good boy’s POV as he moved toward the other side of the sofa and jumped on, while the text stated, “There ain’t room for the two of us in this town.”

In the next couple of moments in the video, the rescue dog took over his owner’s lap and started cuddling him. Miso had left the spot by then and ultimately got off the couch and walked away while Cactus began adorably snuggling with Mike, who believed his pup “went about it nicely” but certainly got a “little protective” about his space and territory. Commenters agreed, and one user even urged him to “ASSERT YOUR DOMINANCE!” Several others pointed out that the good boy was nice and gentle in his approach to get rid of the cat.
